Sorry that it’s taken me so long to get with it and write a blog post. If you know me at all, then you know how much I loathe and abhor writing and you also know how much I love to procrastinate. France is just too fabulous to take the time to sit down and write. So after five weeks in France, two trips to Paris, an unforgettable and crazy trip to Barcelona, lots of baguettes, a few jars of Nutella, a plethora of champagne, and a few mysterious bruises later, here I sit to update you all on my life in France.
I am totally and completely in love with France and I couldn’t be happier.
I lucked into an amazing apartment with two wonderful roommates and fantastic landlords. If you plan on reading my blog on the reg, then plan on reading lots of adjectives like wonderful, fantastic, amazing, marvelous, etc…
This is my apartment, which is a fourth floor walk up (there’s an elevator, but we’re not that lazy) right next to an open air market three times a week. It’s absolutely lovely and in a wonderful location. Next to all the good shopping and restaurants, and only about a twenty minute walk to the university.

The open air market around the corner

Having an open air market right around the corner from my apartment is wonderful. Everything is fresh and delicious and so cheap. Fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, soaps, old books, flowers, leather bags, fur coats, everything really. On any given day one might see a bearded lady, a man playing the accordion, the bread vendor singing, a precious old lady singing Edith Piaf songs, or two vendors arguing. It’s an experience and something that I know I’ll miss when I leave.
One of my favorite things about Aix is just exploring. The streets here are like an endless maze. I finally know my way around and have stopped getting lost, but I never fail to stumble across something new. Just last week my roommate Tessa and I found a Peruvian gift shop where a cute little woman from Lima told us about a Peruvian restaurant here in Aix. I doubt it’ll be as good as Mama Irma’s, but I’ll give a try. There are endless pastry shops with drool worthy windows and lots of cute boutiques. It seems as if I’m living an idyllic life, and I love it. This post won’t let me post anymore pictures, so this one is to be continued…
